Passion Project
In an effort to reduce plastic waste and provide warm and dry sleeping mats for people experiencing homelessness, my grandfather adapted an idea from a friend and created a method to address both issues. These mats are made of old single-use plastic bags that have been turned into "plarn" (plastic yarn). The plarn can then be crocheted or woven on a loom into thick mats that provide some cushion and separation from cold and wet ground. In an effort to increase the reusability of these single-use plastic bags, I reimagined and expanded their use for use around the house and on outdoor adventures. The mats are lightweight and easy to transport and extremely easy to clean, making them perfect for messy activities like gardening or taking to the beach. They are also scalable, so they can be adapted for any space, from a small shoe mat in the corner to covering an entire trunk to protect it from mud and dirt.

The Card Game
The description for the assignment was simple: a 90-second video about a card game–real or fake. The assignment was intentionally left open for students to interpret, and the range of ideas was amazing. One person did a horror-themed video, which used the card as a serial killer's calling card, and another did a simple game of poker that ended with an all-in upset at the last second.
My video begins with a game and ends with an arrest after one player makes an illegal move. This was the first time I had ever created, shot, or edited any video, and for someone with no experience, the outcome was better than I could have expected.
The shoot involved a cobbled-together rig to get a cardboard box POV shot, a drone shot, and a car chase. Ambitious, but fun.
Enjoy!
