Broski Brews
In my senior year of high school, my small class of 17 and 18-year-olds went on a class trip to Maine. We spent the week learning about marine biology, getting hands-on in tide pools, and wrestling in mud flats, but that's not important.
One night, our entire class snuck out of our tents and met at an empty campsite down the road. After not having been together
as an entire class for a year and a half (a little thing called COVID happened), we had a lot of catching up to do. We talked, played games, did stupid stuff, and most importantly, I invented a beer company: Broski Brews.
The idea came to me in a vision so vivid that I grabbed a stick
and drew the logo in the sand. For the remainder of the trip,
my two "Broskis", Vera and Julia, and I joked about the idea,
made business plans, and developed marketing strategies. I
made the first real logo in Microsoft Paint–my first graphic
design experience.
I let the idea sit until my senior year of college, when I received a beer brewing kit. I made my first batch called "Von Berger," which was slightly bitter with a bit of sweetness on the tail end.
Ultimately, Broski Brews remains no more than an idea with
a logo, but it began the journey that led me to graphic design
and advertising.
